Brunch à la Loft
c.1987
This is the solo work so far in a series of photomontages on the theme "the rewards of money," drawn from an advertisement's title. Like in other Rosler's works from the late 1980s, this photomontage responds to the celebration of naked, rapacious greed—in the case of yuppies glorifying in their beautifully appointed art-filled loft while outside their picture window, a drab brick apartment building is in the process of demolition—that was the salient feature of the Reagan years.
